Understanding your engine code’s part 1

In part 1 of this 8-part series we will discuss various common engine codes that you may be experiencing with your vehicles.

P0010 refers to the “A” Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit/Open. This refers to a faulty VVT control solenoid valve, which causes improper opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. Another common cause of this DTC (Default Transmission Code) is contaminated oil sludge in the engine. Your crankshaft or camshaft position sensor may also be malfunctioning. If this is your code it could also mean that you may need to replace the timing chain or camshaft.
