What is a CV Axle? CV Axles are part of your vehicle's steering. CV Axles consist of Boots made of rubber that cover CV joints. These components sometimes referred to as CV boots or drive axle boots, oversee lubricating the joints and preventing the entry of dirt and water. This is a component that occasionally breaks down. Grease can leak out, and moisture and filth can enter if a CV boot splits. If left unchecked, the joint will eventually fail due to rust or lack of lubrication.
Driving a car with a torn CV boot is possible but doing so will cause additional harm that will eventually need more significant repair. Early detection of a slight tear in a CV boot may prevent more extensive repair, necessitating the comparatively simple repair of replacing the boot and applying fresh grease. However, if a boot is broken, many repair shops will advise replacing the entire axle because there can be hidden damage to the CV joints, axle shafts, and other components that could cause additional issues.
